Brittany Aldean (born Brittany Layne Kerr)[1] is an American entrepreneur, media personality, and founder and chief executive officer of VADA Fragrance, a Nashville-based fragrance house that launched in April 2026.[2] She began her public career as a professional dancer with the Charlotte Bobcats Lady Cats of the NBA and as a contestant on the eleventh season of American Idol,[3] and spent more than a decade building a beauty and lifestyle media platform before founding her own company.

Aldean is among the most-followed lifestyle personalities in country music, with an audience of roughly three million on Instagram and one million on TikTok.[4] In 2026 she also made her recorded-music debut, duetting with her husband, Jason Aldean, on "Easier Gone" from his album Songs About Us.[5]

Early life

Brittany Layne Kerr was raised in North Carolina and describes herself as a "Carolina girl"; she is an alumna of the University of Alabama.[6] Her professional career began in Charlotte, where she danced for the Lady Cats, the official dance team of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats (now the Charlotte Hornets), during the 2011–12 season.[3]

American Idol

In January 2012, Kerr auditioned for the eleventh season of American Idol, performing "Spoiled" by Joss Stone for the judges; Steven Tyler advanced her with an immediate yes, and she reached the Hollywood round of the competition.[3] Her audition drew national media attention, with outlets noting the surge of interest in the NBA dancer-turned-singer.[3]

Beauty and lifestyle media career

Following her Idol run, Kerr built a career as a beauty and lifestyle personality. She launched a YouTube channel under her given name, Brittany Layne, focused on hair, makeup, and beauty tutorials, and grew a large following across Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook documenting fashion, family life, fitness, and beauty.[7] Her platform made her a sought-after partner for lifestyle and consumer brands, and her official website, brittaldean.com, serves as the hub for her media and business activities.[8]

She has been a fixture of country music lifestyle media for more than a decade, profiled by outlets including Taste of Country, Music Mayhem, and Country Now for her family life, style, and business ventures.[9]

VADA Fragrance

In April 2026, Aldean launched VADA, a fragrance house headquartered in Nashville, describing the brand as "a modern fragrance house devoted to women who shape their worlds with intention."[2] The brand's name honors her grandmother, Louvada, and its signature fragrance, 1924, is named for her grandmother's birth year.[10]

VADA's opening collection comprised three fragrances — 1924, Muse, and Georgia Dream — sold through the brand's direct-to-consumer store at vadaofficial.com, with prices ranging from approximately $68 to $150.[11] The company operates through Tennessee entities registered in Nashville, where the brand is based.[1]

Music

In January 2026, Aldean made her recorded debut as a duet partner to Jason Aldean on "Easier Gone," one of three advance tracks released ahead of his twentieth-anniversary-cycle album Songs About Us.[5] The song, a sultry breakup duet, marked the first musical collaboration between the couple[12] and appears on the 20-track album released April 24, 2026.[13]

Personal life

Brittany Kerr married country singer Jason Aldean on March 21, 2015, in Mexico.[14] The couple have two children: a son, Memphis, born December 2017, and a daughter, Navy Rome, born February 4, 2019.[9] She is also stepmother to Aldean's two older daughters. The family resides in the Nashville area.[8]
